August 1992: Candace Frazee
and Steve Lubanski met
at a weekly single’s
discussion group called "Seminars
for Singles" in Pasadena,
California run by therapist,
Liz Hargrove. They both
had joined this and other
dating services looking
for each other. That Sunday’s
topic was “How To
Meet The Opposite Sex & Keep ‘Em
Interested”. Candace
and Steve never returned
to the single’s group
(no need), but Liz Hargrove
served as their Matron
of Honour at their wedding
because she introduced
them!
Steve
gave his girlfriend, Candace
a white, plush bunny (which
holds a heart with the
banner, “I Love You
This Much”) on Valentine's
Day, 1993 because Candace
called him her "Honey
Bunny". Candace
gave Steve a white, porcelain
bunny on Easter. At first,
they gave each other bunny
gifts on holidays, but,
Steve not wanting to wait,
started their tradition
of giving bunny gifts to
each other, every day!
Steve and Candace married in 1994 at the Wayfarers
Chapel in
Rancho Palos Verdes, California. They still
give each other a bunny item every day as a
love token. Exchanging bunny gifts doesn't
strengthen their love for each other. It is
an expression of their love. It's not the reason
they love each other!
People
often ask, what if Steve
had given Candace another
animal? First, he wouldn't
have because Candace called
him, "Honey Bunny",
but if they called each other
something else, there'd still
be a collection and then
a museum, but of another
animal!
It was meant to be.
They
didn't set out to create
a museum. They generously
share their private collection
with visitors because they
believe that is what one
should do.
Bunnies
were the theme
of their wedding.

These dolls (centre) are replicas
of the bride and groom and were the wedding
cake topper.
Candace
made their
CARROT wedding
cake.
